The Irish Parliament passed a bill – 90 to 53 votes – to halt public funding of fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal from the €8 billion Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF).
The Fossil Fuel Divestment Bill has yet to be signed into law after review, but if it passes, ISIF would have to drop all investments in fossil fuel companies over the next five years. It would also stop the ISIF from investing in such companies in the future.
