Lowest expansion of onshore wind in Germany since 2000

Net additions of onshore wind in Germany amounted to 231 MW during the first half of 2019. This corresponds to an increase of 0.4% since the beginning of the year and marks the lowest growth of onshore wind in the first half of a given year since 2000 in Germany. Cumulative installed capacity reached 53.2 GW by the end of H1 2019. Electricity produced from onshore wind amounted to 88.2 TWh in 2018.

An additional 252 MW of offshore wind capacity was connected to the grid in H1 2019, with a further 410 MW awaiting grid connection. The total cumulative installed offshore wind capacity (connected to the grid) thus reached 6.66 GW at the end of H1 2019, an increase of 3.8% since the beginning of the year. Electricity generated from offshore wind amounted to 19.0 TWh in 2018.
