Onshore and offshore wind expansion in Germany 2018

Two recent reports by Deutsche WindGuard outline the level of onshore and offshore wind expansion in Germany in 2018.

During 2018, a total of 2.15 GW onshore wind were installed, bringing the cumulative installed capacity of onshore wind to 52.93 GW. Year on year growth was 4.2%, a significant decrease to the 10.6% growth in the period 2016 to 2017. This was the lowest growth in onshore wind since 2010. Preliminary generation statistics by AG Energiebilanzen e.V. (AGEB) indicate that electricity produced from onshore wind amounted to a total of 93.9 TWh in 2018. This is a 6.8% increase from the 87.9 TWh produced in 2017.
