43 new offshore wind turbines, generating a total of 258 MW, were connected the grid in the first half of 2016. According to the Deutsche WindGuard, the number of grid-connected offshore wind turbines has increased to 835, generating a power of 3552.22 MW, an increase in installed capacity of 8% from 2015. Further, large increases are expected soon: between January 1st and June 30th alone, 56 new offshore wind turbines (mostly not connected to the grid yet) and 76 new fundaments were built in the North Sea.
