Onshore wind expansion in Germany – status 2018

Deutsche WindGuard has recently published a report on the expansion of onshore wind in Germany. The full report is available here [in German]. During the first half of 2018, 497 new onshore wind turbines were installed in Germany. Gross installed capacity totaled 1,626 MW, a 29% decrease from the same period in 2017. 88 of the newly commissioned turbines were repowered, providing 297 MW. A total of 101 turbines were decommissioned during the first half of 2018, with a combined capacity of 121 MW. This brings net installed capacity to 1,505 MW. The total number of onshore turbines was 29,071 at the end of June, with a combined capacity of 52,282 MW.
