The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) announced a suspension of their involvement in the Union Database (UDB) development as a Service Provider (SP), citing concerns over the readiness of various systems with no consideration for postponing milestones. Considering the standing of the ISCC, this appears bearish for the scheme and biomethane supply in the medium term although, the impact on voluntary markets is expected to be minimal.
On 12 January 2023, the ISCC organisation provided an update regarding their involvement in the development of the Union Database, in which they have been an active stakeholder, extensively stress testing the UDB in its current form. Representatives of the ISCC raised concerns over the stability of the system environment and have suspended their involvement as an SP.
