Last Friday, EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, inaugurated the EuroAsia Electricity Interconnector, aimed to physically link the island to the EU electricity grid, strengthen energy security and contribute to European climate and energy goals as it will allow Cyprus to export or exchange excess renewable energy.
The interconnector is a multi-terminal high – voltage project that will comprise three converter stations with sea-electrodes, interconnected by cables.
