The new Spanish biogas roadmap and its implication for the biomethane certificate market
The Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has recently approved, in late March 2022, the national roadmap for biogas, envisaging an increase in biomethane production capacity nationwide by four-fold to exceed 10.4 TWh by 2030.
The biogas roadmap aims to promote biogas usage, including biomethane, in two main venues: for the power heat production for industry, and for use as biofuels especially in heavy transport.
