Greenfact has recently published its market report on the UK Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs).
Highlights include:
The report caters to European gas suppliers, UK biomethane producers as well as people who are interested in the UK biomethane industry and the associated green attribution mechanisms.
Biomethane, produced from organic feedstock can be considered a renewable fossil natural gas replacement and holds great value in a society moving towards zero carbon emissions.
Ideally, biomethane can be injected into extensive gas networks and utilised appropriately. However, such blending presents issues with tracking and retaining the green attributes of the renewable gas.
The UK Green Gas Certification Scheme (GGCS) and associated Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin provide assurance to green gas consumers that their consumption is accompanied by the production of a similar volume biomethane injected into the grid.
This report discusses some of the key statistics behind the GGCS and associated RGGOs, the interaction with other biomethane-related schemes, and the potential for growth in the RGGO market.
