Air Liquide signs a long-term power purchase agreement for renewable electricity in Spain

Gas producer Air Liquide has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to source renewable electricity equivalent to 15% of the company’s consumption, for its activities in Spain.  

The agreement is over 10 years, and will draw power from a wind farm in Andalusia (to be operational in 2021) equivalent to 15% of the group's current consumption for its Spanish activities. 

The PPA, Air Liquide's first in Europe, will help them meet their climate objectives to increase purchase of renewable electricity by nearly 70% by 2025, in comparison with 2015. 

Executive vice president Francois Jackow said: "With this long-term commitment we are facilitating the development of renewable infrastructure. Renews provides news-focused business intelligence on the renewable energy sector with market-leading coverage of offshore and onshore wind."
