Equinor to power floating platforms with wind

Equinor and partners will invest 5 billion NOK (≈500 million euros) in building wind turbines which will supply power to the Snorre and Gullfaks oil fields in Norway. The Hywind Tampen project, said to be first of its kind, is scheduled for completion in 2022.

The windfarm, consists of 11 turbines with 88 MW total capacity. The wind turbines are expected to supply 35% of the annual power demand of the platforms in the two fields.
