Earlier this year (April 1 2019), Norwegian regulator Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) pointed out 13 areas in Norway as the best suited areas for new wind power. In light of strong opposition for locating new wind plants by local communities in those areas, NVE have recently clarified that the intention is not to build wind power in all these areas, but that they just intended to show the areas with the highest potential for production.
