Microsoft will purchase 90 MW from the Borsselle III/IV offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. Eneco will provide Microsoft’s datacentres with green power for 15 years starting in 2022. The offshore wind project is characterized by favourable condition for wind generation and the 90 MW included in the PPA is estimated to deliver 370 GWh electricity per year.
This is Microsoft’s second purchase of wind energy in the Netherlands, which brings its total wind energy purchases to 270 MW in the Netherlands — one of the largest corporate renewable energy portfolios in the country.
