As a result of higher energy consumption, CO2 emissions rose 1.7% last year to hit a new record, according to the latest report from the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Global Energy & CO2 Status Report estimated that 33 billion tonnes of CO2 were emitted globally in 2018.
According to the report, Global electricity demand rose by 4% in 2018, at its fastest pace since 2010. However, in the Europe, power demand grew by less than 1%. Renewables generation growth accelerated to 7% in 2018, from 6% in 2017, and met 45% of global electricity demand ...
