PWEA recommends Polish government to increase energy purchase from wind power

The Polish Wind Energy Association (PWEA) has recommended the Polish government to increase the amount of energy purchased from wind farms. In 2019, the Polish energy ministry will contract 67.5 TWh from auctions, in which the ministry intends to buy ca. 3.8 TWh (1.5 GW capacity) from wind power. This is not enough according to the president of PWEA who urges the government to purchase up to 2.5 GW out of the 3 GW wind projects that are ready to be built. In this way, the government could help to ensure that these projects (worth of 2-3 billion PLN, or 0.5-0.7 billion EUR, of investments) get developed successfully.
