Sweden deployed new solar PV capacity of 117.6 MW in 2017, according to the National Survey Report (available here) of PV Power Applications in Sweden 2017, published by the International Energy Agency’s Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA PVPS). Most of the growth came from the residential and commercial and industrial segments, which accounted for 40.8 MW and 67.4 MW, respectively.
Deployed capacity during 2017 was 50% more than the 78.6 MW installed in 2016. The additional capacity installed during 2017 also beat the expectations of Swedish energy agency, Energimyndigheten, which in March said new capacity for 2017 would top out at 91 MW.
