Highly demanded renewable electricity from the Netherlands is the most expensive in Europe

The Dutch financial newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad  recently published an article outlining the current GO situation in the Netherlands. They highlighted the sharp price increase GOs have seen in recent years and months, as well as the massive premium Dutch certificates are trading at.

Domestic demand drivers

One large source of demand is the great number of municipalities and companies that have committed to green electricity contracts in recent years. Schiphol, the NS (Dutch railways), The Hague, Amsterdam and many other cities. These Dutch companies and cities commit to GO backed contracts that stimulate domestic demand.
