Launched in 2014, the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-RECs) standard is a new uniform electricity attribute tracking system that enables consumers worldwide to track the origin of the electricity used. Consumers in countries without attribute tracking system can thus also measure the mix of their electricity consumption. The I-REC system facilitates the international trading of electricity attributes in a widely recognized framework.
