The I-REC Standard’s I-REC(E) (also known as 'I-REC') certificates are experiencing an exponential growth. As the Residual Mix Deadline (RMD) closed at the end of the previous month, the Year-to-Date (YTD) issuance volume tripled while redemption volume doubled compared to the corresponding period in 2021. We take a closer look at these and other data to see what they can tell us about the I-REC market.
Generally, the I-REC market is growing exponentially, while concentrated in specific countries, with 43 % and 12 % of all YTD issued I-RECs originating from China and Brazil, respectively.
