Norwegian wind power production increased by more than 30% in 2017. According to numbers from NVE [1]. The added capacity, together with solid wind conditions resulted in the large increase in wind power production.
A total of 2849 MWh wind power was produced in Norway during 2017. Despite a dip in 2016 (2116 MWh produced), wind production in 2017 increased by 13.5% compared the all-time high in 2015 of 2515 MWh.
2017 also saw a huge jump in installed capacity. 324 MW were added, bringing total installed capacity up to 1188 MW. It took 15 years to build the first GW of wind in Norway. As wind power is starting to compete with hydro, be the second GW could be online already next year according to Anne Vera Skrivarhaug, Head of Department at NVE...
