EU wind GO market outlook

The renewable GO wholesale price increased significantly during the last three months, of all renewable energy sources. Our recent article made a special focus on the wind GOs, where we observed the following.

1. The wholesale prices of generic EU wind GOs and Nordic hydro GOs are closely related.
2. The share of Wind GOs in the production and disclosure mix keeps growing, accounting for about 20% of renewable GOs in AIB in 2016.
3. Due to national policy restrictions, only 20% of wind power generation (46 out of 224 TWh) in AIB received “freely tradable” EECS-GOs in 2016.
