Large companies against central auction of supported GOs

Guarantees of Origin (GOs) are “an integral part of corporate renewablePPAs(power purchase agreements)”, and via the GOs, the companies can trace the origin of their electricity consumption in Europe. However, EU’s draft of new renewables directive (aka. RED II) proposed a central auction mechanism for GOs of supported RES-E production, which may impair the PPA business model. A coalition including Google, Amazon, Microsoft urged EU policymakers to abandon such auctions.
