Norsk Hydro, one of the largest aluminium producers in the world, with yearly production of around 100000 tons, signs the world’s largest wind PPA with the Swedish wind power company Markbygden ETT AB. The deal extends from 2021 until the end of 2039, with a yearly delivery of 1.65 TWh (equivalent to 650 MW).
The wind park is located close to Piteå in the northern part of Sweden, and is owned by GE Energy Financial Services and Green Investment Group Limited, part of Macquarie Group Limited. The wind park is part of the Margkbygden wind project, developed by Svevind, consisting of 1101 wind turbines and 10 TWh of yearly production, making it Europe’s largest collection of onshore wind farms.
