Spain announces new renewable energy auction

The Spanish government has, though the Spanish council of Ministers approved a declaration which will provide the foundation of a new renewable energy auction for energy facilities which totals up to 3GW of power.

 Similar to previous auctions held in Spain in May, there is no preference for any given technology. Wind and solar PV will be competing on equal terms, with the most cost-effective projects being chosen. Given a tied auction, wind would prevail due to its ease of forecast compared to solar PV.
