New flagship European project aim to reduce O&M costs for offshore wind

The new project named ROMEO (Reliable O&M decision tools and strategies for high LCoE reduction on Offshore wind). Receiving grants from the European Commission of €10 million, it will seek to develop advanced monitoring systems. The main objective being to move from the old corrective and calendar based maintenance schedule to a condition based maintenance schedule which is based of analysis of the real conditions of the wind turbines.

ROMEO is a collaboration between 12 different key players in the industry, with links to 7 EU member states. The EU Innovation and Networks Executive Agency outlined the stages of the project:...
