France gets approval from EU to develop 3 new schemes supporting 17 Gigawatts of Renewable Energy

The European Commission has approved France’s request on developing three new schemes which will aid in developing more than 17 GW worth of renewable energy capacity. The schemes will apply for small-scale onshore wind, sewage gas, and solar power plants across France.

“These measures will help France achieve its 2020 target of producing 23% of its energy needs from renewable sources. They are fully in line with the Juncker Commission's priorities to support investments in renewable energy sources and to ensure that the energy transformation enables EU industry to reach a leading position in low-carbon technologies, thereby fostering green growth and jobs.” States the Europeans Commission’s press release
