EU Parliament pushes for more ambitious 2030 renewable energy goals

A recent draft report from the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research, Telecoms and Energy (ITRE) calls upon raising the 2030 renewable energy target, from the 27% endorsed by the European Council, to a minimum of 35%. It also suggests a re-introduction of the binding national targets for member states, as seen in the RED 2009/28/EC.
