India’s large solar ambitions

India is expected to become the third biggest solar market, after China and USA, as the sector is experiencing tremendous growth due to strong governmental support.

Following the 2014 elections, the country’s energy policy has shifted to support renewable energy, and increased the 2022 solar target to 100,000 MW. Currently, the government is planning to construct eight green energy corridors to integrate the new renewable energy to the grid, and transport solar power to less sun rich states.
