Last week, the European Commission presented a second proposal to bring natural gas prices down. The same week, after a late-night session on energy and economy, the European Council adopted conclusions. Here’s an update:
EU leaders urged the Council and the Commission to speed up their work and emphasised that the additional measures should not have an impact on long-term gas contracts, considering different energy mixes and national circumstances. The European Council called on the EU institutions to urgently submit concrete decisions on additional measures regarding:
- voluntary joint purchasing of gas;
- a new complementary LNG bench...
