On Monday, (8 August 2022), the European Commissioned approved an Italian scheme to offer production support to biomethane. The aid will be made available through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and will provide capital and operating expenditure relief.
The plan also achieves concurrent aims of furthering the energy transition in the Mediterranean nation, as well as reducing Russian natural gas dependence (stated aims of REPowerEU).
