UK phases out coal and carbon dioxide emissions fall to 19th century levels

As the government is focusing on renewable energy and place high tax on CO2, coal consumption drops by 52% in 2016.

The UK hasn’t had such low CO2 emission levels since 1894, when coal was the main source of energy both in private households and industry. Since 2006, coal emission reduced by 74%. In 2016 alone, CO2 emissions reduced by 6%.
