EU to invest €444 million in key European Energy infrastructure

The Commission’s proposal was agreed upon by EU Member States where they will invest the €444 million in 18 electricity, smart grids and gas projects. Money comes from EU’s funding support program for infrastructure, the Connecting Europe Facility.

The goal of the investment is to contribute to the connection of European energy networks, integrating renewable energy sources across the EU and increase security of energy supply. This investment helps to accelerate the energy transformation in Europe, making EU industry leading in low-carbon technologies, thus creating green growth and jobs.

Seven of the projects are in the electricity sector, 10 in the gas sector, one for smart grid, five relate to construction works and 13 to studies.
