Germany starts discussion of issuing supported GOs on basis of new law

A recent study has looked at the effects of the proposed reduction to the German environmental levy, which could potentially result in more Germany RE installations being eligible for EECS GOs.

At the beginning of June the German government released a stimulus package to mitigate the economic effects of Corona. Amongst other measures, it was announced that the environmental levy (“EEG-Umlage”) would be reduced, from 6.756 €c/kWh (currently) to 6.5 €c/kWh from 2021 and to 6 €c/kWh from 2022. This measure will cost the federal government approximately 11 billion Euros.
