Denmark plans two energy islands to meet climate goals

Denmark plans to build two “energy islands” comprising a total of 4 GW offshore wind capacity, which would contribute towards their 2030 emission reduction target of 70%. The two islands would each have a capacity of at least 2 GW, more than doubling the country’s current offshore wind capacity.

The islands are expected to generate more electricity than the current Danish annual household consumption and the government hopes to export green power to neighboring Europea...
