Europe installed 15.4 GW of new wind energy capacity in 2019, with onshore installations accounting for three quarters of this increase. The wind capacity in all of Europe is now 205 GW.
German, a champion and early adopter of wind technology, only installed 1.1 GW of onshore wind last year — its lowest since 2000, representing an increase of less than 2%. The outlook for wind in Germany next year similarly looks flat.
