Apple joined the global initiative RE100. Companies that join RE100 are encouraged to set a public goal to procure 100% of their electricity from renewable sources of energy by a specified year. In 2015 Apple already powered 93% of its operations with energy from renewable sources. Moreover, Apple also supports its manufacturing partners to make the same transition. In this context, Catcher Technology, which is one of the company’s major aluminium enclosure suppliers, is aiming for 100% renewable energy for its production of Apple goods by the end of 2018.
