Green energy surge tipped in Taiwan

In Taiwan, a surge in demand for renewable energy certificates is expected before the end of the year (2020), driven by corporate consumers.

The Taiwanese Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspections (BSMI) suggested a total of 500 GWh of domestic T-RECs, the Taiwanese domestic counterpart to the European GOs and global IRECs, would be sold through the end of the year.

Data available via the National Renewable Energy Certification Center (NRECC), the Taiwanese body responsible for issuing T-RECs shows solid growth in issuances since 2017:
