The following article outlines the key countries for renewable GO issuance, cancellations and net exports within the AIB. All statistics mentioned refer to the full calendar year 2019.
Main trends:
- Norway remains the largest issuer and net exporter of GOs.
- Italy and Spain were the next two largest exporters for 2019.
- Germany continues to have the largest number of annual cancellations, which has shown steady growth over the last 4 years.
Issuance in Norway during 2019 was 133 TWh, which is 5 TWh lower than during the same period in 2018. Issuance was also down in Spain (5 TWh lower than 2018), following a significant increase from 2017. Because Spain joined the AIB during 2016, the statistics are incomplete and therefore omitted for Spain in 2016.
