The French newspaper Le Figaro reported that as per Syndicat des énergies renouvelables (SER), renewable electricity accounted for 26% of French electricity consumption in the second quarter of 2016. This number can be attributed mainly to the production of hydroelectric power, which increased by 15% compared to the second quarter of 2015. In this respect, France is making great progress towards their goal of increasing the use of non-fossil fuel in the energy mix to 40% by 2030.
