Non-Hydro Renewables to replace thermal as leading power source in Italy by 2030

GlobalData’s report ‘Italy Power Market Outlook to 2030’ indicates that the share of non-hydro renewable energy in Italy will outpace that of the thermal power by 2030.

Installed non-hydro renewable capacity grew from 1.7 GW in 2000 to 34.5 GW in 2017. Substantial progress came from solar which increased from 19 MW in 2000 to around 19.7 GW in 2017. Onshore wind grew from 365 MW to 9.7 GW in 2017.
