Polish Guarantees of Origin (Gwarancji Pochodzeniain) were announced in 2013 by the Polish Energy Regulation Office (URE)[1]. The GO Registry (RGP) was launched by the Polish Power Exchange (TGE) in 2014 [2]. TGE has not yet adopted the EECS rules, nor is it a member of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB)[3].
We see that the GO market in Poland is still in an early starting phase. RES-E generation was 21.6 TWh in 2016, while GO cancellation (aka. “transfer to end-users”) was only 0.84 TWh[4], at an average price 0.40 PLN (ca. 9 Eurocent) per MWh[5]. In 2017, RES-E production was 24.6 TWh, approximately 16% of Poland’s production mix[6]. GOs corresponding to 2.9 TWh were canceled in 2017.
