Temperatures were above average in Norway last week, with a high amount of inflow across the country. Together with increased production from invariable hydropower, resulting in lower electricity prices. Despite this, electricity prices are still considerably higher compared to the same period last year. In North-Norway prices were 75% higher compared to the same week in 2017.
After five consecutive weeks of net-imports, Norway had net exports last week. Low wind power production and reduced availability of nuclear were contributing factors. In addition, Norway had a greater reduction in consumption compared to the rest of the Nordics.
Based on NVE’s calculations, snow around the reservoirs amounts to 54 TWh by the start of week 16. This corresponds to normal levels and approx. 6 TWh less than last week.
