The EU now gets more than 30% of its electricity from renewable sources, up from 12% in 2000. With equivalent growth, this will increase to 50% by 2030, according to a new report by Sandbag and Agora Energiewende [1][2].
Among other things, the report shows that renewables were responsible for more electricity production than both coal and natural gas in 2017. This should be viewed in conjunction with the fact that coal only five years ago was more than twice as big as wind, solar and biomass.
