COP23. UN climate meeting in Bonn

UN’s climate conference, COP23, begins today in Bonn in Germany. Delegates from 197 countries are present, and on top of the agenda is to hammer out a rule book on how to implement the Paris agreement from 2015, to be adopted at the climate summit in Poland in 2018.

The meeting is chaired by Pacific Island Fiji. Due to Fiji’s remote location and restricted capacity in infrastructure etc., the conference is held in Bonn, which is also home to the UN’s climate change agency. Bonn has built a tent city the size of eight football fields to welcome the 25000 participants.
