X, the "moonshot" division of Alphabet, Google's parent company, is developing a new way to store renewable energy that otherwise might be wasted — by using molten salt, reports Bloomberg.
The energy storage system that can be located anywhere, and has the potential to last longer than lithium-ion batteries, while competing on cost with new pumped hydro plants and other energy storage methods.
