Norway has the potential to increase its biogas production capacity to 1.5 TWh by 2035. Recent dialogue among domestic biogas players and REGATRACE on the establishment of a gas Guarantees of Origin (GOs) system and a national registry, led by Biogass Norge, highlighted concern over the lack of a GO system, which could lead to Norwegian biogas and biomethane players missing out opportunities on the European green gas markets.
Norway has the potential to increase its biogas/biomethane production capacity to almost 1.2 TWh in 2030 and could reach over 1.5 TWh by 2035, according to Biogass Norge.
