UK to begin consultation on removing recognition of EU GoOs in the UK and FiT and CfD levy exemptions

The UK government (BEIS) announced an open consultation for the removal of the recognition of EU Guarantees of Origin and FiT and CfD levy exemptions for green imported electricity.  The Government also invites views on the timing implications of the intended removal of the UK's recognition of EU Guarantees of Origin (GoOs).

Background

Payments to electricity generators supported by the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme and Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) scheme are funded through a compulsory levy on electricity suppliers in proportion to their share of the electricity sales market.
