Poland must invest more on upgrading its coal plants and on renewables to meet challenging EU targets on CO2 emission.
Poland is still very reliant on coal power. 62% of its coal plants are over 30 years old, and a replacement strategy could reduce the CO2 emissions by 20% or more, cut air pollutant emissions by 90% and strengthen energy security, IEA said, recognizing the economic challenge this represents.
