Referendum to be held in Switzerland on government’s ’Energy Strategy 2050’

As the Swiss government wants to focus on renewables and gradually close the nuclear power plants, right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP) mobilized a campaign for a referendum against the ‘Energy Strategy 2050’.

The referendum will be held on May 21.

The strategy focuses on exploiting renewable energy sources, such as hydro, wind and solar power. These measures will require changes to the current energy law.
