Sebigas has announced its 600 KW biogas plant in Nivelles, Belgium is now in operation.
The new facility comprises a single-stage anaerobic digestion (AD) process using liquid and solid biomass feedstocks from corn as well as manure from horses, cows, and pigs. The process of loading biomass with straw has also been of particular attention. According to Sebigas, the unit installed a shredder in the loading line and used technology that provides flexibility in operations. With this technology, the biogas plant is guaranteed with limited plant maintenances and maximised operating hours.
The 600 KW biogas unit by Sebigas is located in the city of Nivelles in the Wallonia region. With the introduction of this biogas plant, the company can contribute to a circular economy in the region by enhancing agricultural waste management and producing fertiliser for agriculture use from a high-quality digestate.
The Wallonia region encourages the use of sustainable energy through investment support for the production of renewable energy or high-efficiency cogeneration. For a biogas installation, an extra investment subsidy can be received, depending on the installed capacity. The extra support counts for 8.25% (≤600 kWe) or 6.75% (>600 kWe) of the eligible costs.
